The exotic barrier island John U. Lloyd State Park is a 253 acre park between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway, perfect for beach combing, swimming, sunbathing, paddle boarding, kayaking and volleyball. This astounding beach front park preserves some of South Florida’s vanishing natural resources.

Island beach facilities include a bar/restaurant, clean restrooms, fresh water showers, picnic tables and chaise lounges.

Do I have to purchase tickets in advance?
We highly recommend that you purchase tickets in advance, as sails do sell out quickly. To maximize your chances of getting the day that you prefer, please book well in advance!
What happens if it rains?
Most of our sails will run in all light rain and other moderate weather conditions. In the rare event that we have to cancel a sail due to severe wind or weather, you will have the opportunity to reschedule your tickets or receive credit for a future event.
What food and drinks are included?
Soda and snacks such as nuts or pretzels are complimentary throughout the cruise and included in the price of your ticket. You are also welcome to purchase beer or wine for $3 each, must be 21 or older with valid government issued ID
Can I bring my own food and drinks?
Sure! You are welcome to bring your own food and drinks, but please remember that glass bottles are not allowed on board (no alcohol may be brought onboard). We also discourage coolers and recommend bringing a small bag with any items you'd like to have with you during the trip.
Is the trip suitable for pregnant women?
Our boats are gentle and pregnant women shouldn't have any problems, but if you are pregnant and concerned, you should check with your doctor before attending.
Is the boat handicapped accessible?
The Spirit is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible, but the crew is trained to assist you board and disembark. If you have further questions or concerns, please call and let us know about your particular situation
What boat will be going on?
We will go out on the Spirit of Lauderdale catamaran, a 50 foot, 49 passenger cat designed and built to prowl South Florida's beaches with comfort and speed! It has 1500 feet of deck space, a shaded bar and lounge, covered seating, a stairway to the sea and two marine heads!
Are there restrooms on board?
Yes, there are two clean restrooms onboard (for men and women) for your convenience.
Can children come?
Of course! Children ages 12 and under have a reduced price ticket, and children 3 and under are free, but must have a free ticket in order to attend (due to Coast Guard regulations).
Can I bring a pet?
Yes but only with prior permission. To inquire about getting permission to bring a pet on board, please call and let us know more about your situation.
How early should I arrive?
We recommend arriving at least a half an hour beforehand, but the absolute deadline is 15 minutes early. If we don't leave on time, we'll miss the drawbridge and then the whole trip can be delayed for up to an hour! Please be respectful of other passengers and do not arrive late.
What should I wear?
Wear casual clothes (no high heels) such as shorts, tee-shirts, caps, etc. Bring a camera to capture all the sights along the way.
Is the boat safe? Do you have life jackets?
All of our vessels are safe and inspected regularly by the US Coast Guard. We do have more than enough life jackets on board, and children ages 12 and under are required to wear them during the sailing portion of the trip while on the upper decks of the vessel.
Will there be music?
Yes! We will play a variety of music including Calypso to put you in a relaxed tropical mood.
