Weather Policy
Tropical Sailing operates rain or shine. Weather alone does not automatically cancel a cruise.
Tours may be delayed, modified, or rescheduled when conditions become unsafe.
Official Operating Guidelines:
- Light to moderate rain at departure will not normally cause a cancellation.
- If conditions are unsafe at departure, Tropical Sailing may delay departure by up to one hour when operationally possible.
- Heavy rain covering more than 75% of the planned sailing route and/or expected to last for more than half of the tour duration may result in a weather reschedule.
- Sustained winds exceeding 25 knots may require a tour to be rescheduled.
- Tropical Sailing reserves the right to modify sailing routes or destinations for guest safety and changing weather conditions.
Safety Notice
Guest safety is always our highest priority, and the Captain's decision regarding weather and operating conditions is final.
Understanding South Florida Weather
South Florida experiences unique weather patterns. Most summer storms are isolated, scattered, and short-lived.
It is common to experience heavy rain a few miles inland while the beaches remain sunny.
Because Tropical Sailing operates modern catamarans with covered seating areas and the ability to change course, our captains can often navigate around passing weather to provide the best possible experience.
This flexibility allows many cruises to operate comfortably even when rain is forecast elsewhere in the area.
